FDRC Appoints Chairman and Board Directors

(12 January 2018, Hong Kong) The Financial Dispute Resolution Centre (“FDRC”) today announced the appointment of Mr Dieter Yih as Chairman of the FDRC for a term of two years effective from 12 January 2018.

 

The FDRC also announced the re-appointment of Messrs Tong Hon Shing and Philip Leung Kwong Hon as Directors for a new term of two years with effect from 1 March 2018 and 31 March 2018 respectively. In addition, Mr Gary Cheung has been appointed as a new FDRC Director for a two-year term commencing on 1 March 2018.

 

Mr Dieter Yih is a Hong Kong practising solicitor with a focus on capital markets, corporate finance, securities, regulatory compliance and mergers & acquisitions. He is currently an arbitrator of the South China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration). Additionally, he is a Past President of the Law Society of Hong Kong, and a former council member of the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited. The FDRC looks forward to the leadership of Mr Yih to further strengthen its role as a leading provider of dispute resolution services for financial disputes between financial institutions and their customers.

 

Mr Gary Cheung, Chief Executive Officer of Blackwell Global Holdings Limited and the incumbent Chairman of Hong Kong Securities Association, is a veteran of the securities industry. The FDRC looks forward to receiving his wise counsel.

 

The FDRC thanks Messrs Tong and Leung for their valuable contributions and looks forward to their continued support and guidance in the coming two years.

 

Meanwhile, the FDRC expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Professor Teresa Cheng Yeuk Wah for her close guidance and invaluable contribution in her role as the Board Chairman in ensuring the smooth operation of the FDRC since its inception some six years ago. The FDRC is also grateful to the retiring Director, Mr Brian Fung Wei Lung, for his support of the work of the FDRC in the past six years.
